Dytiscidae

  Predaceous Diving Beetles. Adults are smooth and boat-shaped with very large hind coxae. Dorsal and ventral surfaces of the body of similar convexity. The larvae are important in controlling mosquitoes. Often attracted to lights.    [185 Aust. species]
